37 Weeks

"Your baby is now considered full term, even though your due date is still three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. He weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long."

Won't be long now...  two weeks from today and Master Kleiven will be in his parents' arms!

OB Update - 36.1 weeks

So, first I must confess...  I had quite a few Braxton-Hicks on Saturday night that lasted all night.  Being the pro that I am {insert sarcasm}, I knew it wasn't the real deal.  That didn't stop me from wondering if it actually might be something more.  At the very least, I knew there was some activity going on and was hopeful that my praying, drinking, moving & relaxing would keep Baby K where he needs to remain for the next three weeks.

Appointment Update: 110/72, no swelling, all is good... and while I don't quite understand why someone with a scheduled c-section needs to have the GroupStrepB test done, I let her do the test, only because then I would at least get one internal exam to see if Saturday night's BHCTX made any progress... and I'm dilated to a 1 and soft. No panicking going on.  This is no indication he will come early.  Just nice to hear that my body is getting ready and so is he!!

I was also the "show & tell" of the hour with the belly henna...  they all thought it was great!

Two more appointments to go - one solo, one with H&T!

...20 days and counting!!

Countdown Checklist

I have pre-registered with the hospital and submitted my request for short-term disability at work.  My temporary replacement is coming to work a day or two with me in the coming weeks.  Suzanne (our attorney) just called this morning and said that I need to have a phone conference with her and the Referee before he will sign off on the PBO.  I managed to remember to pick up a few items yesterday for post-partum recovery while at the store.  Yep, things are getting checked off on my list and coming together quite nicely!!

I bet something similar is happening on the other side of the ocean too!

Check-in with Dr. E

OB appointment = uneventful.

I didn't take off my shoes so I gained weight. Meh. I told her I don't really care at this point. LOL! My scale this morning at home is the same as it has been for the last three weeks. She says, "you're looking good, I have no concerns".

So tell me why they need to do a GroupB Strep culture (she said something about protocol) when I'm not delivering vaginally? So I get one internal exam next week and then nothing after that. Heartbeat, urine and BP all good. Three appointments to go!!

Scheduled arrival at 11:30 am on Monday, March 14th.

35 Weeks

I think that Baby K has dropped a little overnight...  I'm definitely feeling a little more room in the lung area and a whole lot more cramped in the pelvic bones.  Yes, with that it appears as if I will also be a little slower and {gulp} waddling a bit this morning too!  Ha.

  • Your uterus has become more cramped, your baby's kicks and other movements less forceful.  {Hmmm, doesn't feel any less forceful... he's going to be a soccer player, I think!}
  • Baby is about 47cm crown to heel and weighs almost 2.7 Kg.
  • The body of your baby is growing round due to developing fat layers.
  • Your baby's reflexes are coordinated.
  • Lungs are almost fully developed.
Little Boy Blue has been instructed to stay put...  at least until March 4th.
OB appointments are now weekly, starting Wednesday.
It won't be long now...

Happy Valentine's Day!

This we DO know

I think a lot about the birth day these days. When will it be, the 14th, the 11th, or the 8th of March, celebrating the womens day...??? And will we arrive in time, will it be in the middle of the night, will everything be OK heath-wise for Julie, and so on and so on. Well, one thing we do know for sure is this; little baby is going to be born in 2011. Loved this violet sweater and just had to buy it for our boy.

Hugs from Hanne

It's all in the numbers....

120/80 blood pressure
192 lbs.
140 bpm heartrate
25 workdays remaining
31 days until Kleivens arrive in Minnesota
40 days until scheduled c-section

Healthy am I.
Getting bigger, and measuring ahead, is he.
Anxious and waiting, are they!

11:30 am...  our time at the hospital is set.  I told Dr. E that I was just a little disappointed to have to wait until that hour.  She is going to see if the woman earlier in the day would switch with me.  Yippeee!
Then, of course, I said that we'll get all this planned and it won't happen as scheduled anyway.  She laughed and I think may agree with me just a little bit.

But....    in the end, only Little Boy Blue decides when it will be HIS birthday!!
