A Friday Afternoon Visit

Center for Reproductive Medicine moved across the parking lot to the new building and now have the whole fourth floor.  Same furniture, same staff, new surroundings.

I have a short wait in the quiet room before the old familiar smiling face greets me in all my undress and says "so you want to do this again, huh?"  I laugh and nod right back in the affirmative.  We have a calmness between us that most in his office probably do not get to enjoy.  I have to admit that seeing the other couples in the waiting room made me tone down my anticipation and excitement just a little this afternoon.  The heartbreak that brought them this far must be a heavy burden to endure.  And then a smile washes over my heart as I am reminded of the reason that we are here again too!

Dr. Campbell explains very quickly everything we're doing today and why he needed my OB to do the first saline sonohystogram (assurance about the c-section scar was her department, he says) and then he proceeds ~  transvaginal ultrasound, trial transfer and then the saline SH.  And for the first time in three journeys I feel a little more apprehension when lying in this predicament for the definitive words to come.  But then he starts to smile and ramble off the following with his thumbs up sign:
"Well, you've got all the right equipment here.  I can't even tell you've had a c-section.  We're good to go!"
And I breathe another sigh of relief...  and exhale.

He wants to know if I'm aware of the next steps (because he sure isn't, that's not his department) and I assure him I'm in the know.  Back in the waiting room, JP has given blood (and I kindly remind him this is the one and only time he has to get poked).  Reading his sports section, I tell him that I was almost done and just needed to give my blood sample for testing and we'd be on our way.

Off to the bathroom I go because my bladder was full for the previous testing.  I return to get my labs drawn and the woman tells me that she will also need a urine sample.  What?!  I just asked if you needed me to have a full bladder and no one indicated I needed to also have a urinalysis for STD's (obviously I thought that was done by blood sample).  Ok, well then...  guess you will get my sample instead when I come back in May for (what I believe to be an unnecessary) consult with the RN coordinator.

"Oh, and JP...  you need to leave a urine sample too!" At least he didn't just empty his bladder.  Ha.

So 45 minutes after arrival, with a small mishap, we're sent on our way with a lilt in our step and smiles on our hearts...  one more hurdle cleared!  And I wonder to myself why I ever doubted the possibility of a sibling journey for the Kleivens!

...and today's timeline says:  2 months, 2 week sand 2 days until Sanna's Sibling Transfer!

Love & BIG hugs,

  1. Ah, lovely news! I just knew that your uterus is still MAGIC and BEAUTIFUL. Will go to bed with a big smile on my face. Thanks for updating Julie! SIBLING HUGS!

... And something tells me that if Julie were the coordinator down at CRM things would have gone so much more smoothly :)
